NPA hand and foot care, nail art (including GEL POLISH)

This National Progression Award (NPA) provides an overview for learners to specialise in a particular area, developing skills reflective of industry practice.

It develops knowledge and understanding of skills in manicure and pedicure, including filing, buffing, cuticle work, exfoliation, massage and polish application.

Polish types include:

• light,
• dark,
• French
• gel

Candidates will learn about:

• preparing the nail plate for nail art treatment
• filing, cuticle work, removal of product from the nail plate
• performing nail art treatments — base coat, application of nail art design, topcoat.

Techniques include stamping, dotting, striping, foiling, application of gems, glitter and transfers.
